Pumps for Construction Site Dewatering

Dewatering means the removal of groundwater or surface water from a site before construction work starting. Dewatering may be necessary on sites where there are trenches and excavations in which water can accumulate. In most construction projects the water should be removed to keep the production as a schedule or to provide a safe workplace. In most cases, the contractors tend to use water pumps to dewatering these areas.

Contractors have a variety of pumps from which to choose. Some of the most common types used on construction sites include self priming trash pump, diaphragm pump and submersible pump. Another type of pump that is gaining in popularity is the well point pump, most commonly used for ground water dewatering tasks.

Each type of pumps has its strengths and weaknesses. Centrifugal trash pumps move large amounts of water quickly, but can jam if large or heavy solids clog the impeller. Diaphragm pump works sort of like a piston, so there's no impeller to clog, making them handy for moving water with a lot of mud or silt, especially in shallow depths where submersible and centrifugal pumps are ineffective. That's why they're often called “mud hogs” or “mud suckers.” Submersible dewatering pump works on water that is relatively clean—the sort found in sumps, excavations or collection ponds.

Pump capabilities vary from specialized to highly versatile and from low pressure to high pressure. Some are more capable of pumping fluid vertically than others, and, while some work well for moving water with debris, others will clog under those same conditions. A pump that is not designed to move solids may cost less, but it will likely clog and break if any type of debris is pumped through it. Choosing the correct pump for the application can help ensure a safe and successful job.

self priming sewage pump adopt the latest foreign technology. This product overcomes the shortcomings inherent in the traditional submersible sewage pump and has the characteristics of novel structure and reliable performance. Its battleship-style shape is the first in China; its unique oil-lubricated mechanical seal structure, non-clogging blades, replaceable liners, easy-to-maintain design and advanced BAUER devices make this series the standard for a new generation of sewage pumps. This wet prime pump divided into eight specifications. The performance range is 10-1500m3/h head 10-68m. It can meet the various needs of users by cutting the outer diameter of the impeller, changing the speed and the combination of pumps of different specifications. The modified product can be widely used in municipal sewage. Industrial wastewater treatment projects and various wastewater grading and centralized treatment systems for the transport of liquids with mild corrosion or large solid particles. The basic material of the pump is gray cast iron, and the impeller is made of ductile iron. For dewatering of clean and dirty water, 6 inch trash pump / engine driventrash pump is designed for applications requiring high volume flow and solid/debris handling capabilities.
